Andhra CM Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Sister Sharmila Forays Into Active Politics, Launches Own Party In Telangana
She said the YSR Telangana Party’s would mainly focus on three issues, including welfare, self-prosperity and equality.
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister YS Sharmila on Thursday officially launched her political outfit 'YSR Telangana Party', thereby marking her foray into active politics.
She said the YSR Telangana Party would mainly focus on three issues, including welfare, self-prosperity and equality.
Sharmila also promised ‘Rajanna Rajyam’, a state envisaged by her father and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister late Rajasekhara Reddy.
Sharmila, who unveiled her party’s agenda and flag surrounded by her followers, said she will start her ‘padayatra’ in the state on the 100th day from today during which she would directly interact with the people and understand their woes.
She also used the occasion to take potshots at Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and alleged that he has failed in fulfilling the promises made to the people.
Commenting on the river water controversy between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Sharmila said the Chief Ministers of both states should both the CMs should sit together and resolve the Krishna water dispute.
She also lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) while alleging both parties were hand in glove.
Taking potshots at Sharmila over the launch of her party, the BJP alleged the whole programme was like an audio release event of a new movie.
“Her party has neither relevance on which it is founded, nor on any ideology. The entire event smacks of self-promotion and plays out like a poorly scripted daily TV soap opera,” PTI quoted BJP’s Telangana chief spokesperson K. Krishna Saagar Rao as saying.
Sharmila, who prior to launching the party paid tributes to her father on the occasion of his birth anniversary, had announced her plunge into politics earlier this year.
