After 'Monsoon Offer', Akhilesh's 'Winter Discount' Amid Rumours Of Rift In BJP In UP

Akhilesh Yadav attacked the BJP for the poor performance in Lok Sabha and said that the people were unhappy with the BJP government in the state.

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday attacked the BJP government on the Union Budget and spoke on the alleged infighting within the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.

Akhilesh, who took a 'Monsoon Offer' swipe at the BJP amid infighting claims last week, said there will be a 'winter discount' too.

Responding to a question on his 'Monsoon Offer', the former UP CM speaking at the ABP Shikhar Sammelan said, "We should learn something from the market. When the monsoon offers come into the market, then a lot of people go out shopping. Who knows whether the monsoon offer will bring about a change? But this will not remain till the monsoon offer, there will be a winter discount. Until we remove them, we have to keep giving some offers."

The Samajwadi Party leader was referring to his cryptic tweet where he posted, "Monsoon offer: bring 100, form the government." The tweet appeared to be a replug of Yadav's past "offer" to Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya where he had offered him SP's support for the Chief Minister's post if he has the support of 100 MLAs.

Akhilesh Yadav attacked the BJP for the poor performance in Lok Sabha and said that the people were unhappy with the BJP government in the state.

"This is the victory of the PDA's (pichre, Dalit and Alpashankhak) strategy. The government says that it will become the third largest economy, but what is the per capita income. If the per capita income of the country is low, then the PDA family is the poorest. That's why they are unhappy," Akhilesh said.

In the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the SP won 34 seats leaving the BJP only to 33 seats.

In a cryptic remark referring to the rumours of the infighting within BJP, Akhilesh said that the party performed poorly in the Lok Sabha election in the state because the 'two engines kept colliding against each other'.

"People are unhappy because they have been given the chance to the (BJP) government in Delhi and Lucknow for 10 years. But the biggest question is that the engines of Delhi and Lucknow will keep colliding, then what will the opposition do," he said.

"Maybe the carriages linked to the engine have their own dreams and maybe the dreams are not getting fulfilled which is why we are seeing this result," Akhilesh quipped.

Speaking on the Union Budget, which was presented in the Parliament on Tuesday, he said, "We ask for packages for farmers and state but in this year's budget, only those areas, which were crucial for the centre to run the government, got the packages."

He attacked the BJP for focusing more on Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, while ignoring Uttar Pradesh in the budget.

Speaking on the issue of job creation, he added, "In the budget, the government is saying that people will get employment for Rs 5,000. So, the government should tell themselves what they are trying to do. If the government is giving jobs for Rs 5,000, then it means that the largest number of jobs have been taken away in the last 10 years. The government should clearly state how many jobs they have given and how many jobs it is going to create."
