‘Fearing LS Poll Loss, BJP Limited Future PM To Post Of Chief Minister’: Akhilesh Yadav On Nitish’s Move

Akhilesh Yadav's remarks come as the political upheaval in Bihar has impacted the opposition alliance as CM Nitish Kumar was considered one of the most important constituents of the I.N.D.I.A bloc.

New Delhi: Akhilesh Yadav, the President of the Samajwadi Party and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday reacted to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's exit from the I.N.D.I.A. bloc claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) constrained his political ambitions, limiting his future prospects to the post of Chief Minister rather than the coveted position of Prime Minister.

Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar Chief Minister for the record ninth time on Sunday as he once again returned to the NDA fold. Akhilesh slammed the BJP, saying that the saffron party feared a loss in the upcoming Lok Sabha election and reduced Nitish's prospect from future Prime Minister to the post of Chief Minister.

"This is the result of the BJP's frustration of losing the Lok Sabha elections… They conspired to limit a potential Prime Minister by limiting him to the Chief Minister post. The BJP has insulted the people of Bihar and their mandate. The public will respond to this insult by defeating the BJP alliance in the Lok Sabha elections. Every resident of Bihar will cast their next vote to safeguard the honour of Bihar and defeat the BJP," he posted on X.

The political upheaval in Bihar has impacted the opposition alliance as Nitish was considered one of the most important constituents of the I.N.D.I.A bloc.

On Sunday, the Congress, RJD, and other members of the INDIA bloc strongly criticised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for what they perceived as a betrayal of the opposition alliance ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Kumar's alliance with the BJP drew sharp rebukes, with some labeling him a "chameleon" and "Paltu Ram" for his frequent shifts in allegiance. Warning of a strong response from the people of Bihar, the opposition parties conveyed their dissatisfaction with Kumar's move.

Tejashwi Yadav, former deputy and RJD leader, predicted the demise of JD(U) in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. More On It: 'Tired CM', 'Girgit Ratna': RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Breathe Fire As Nitish Kumar Goes Back To BJP

In contrast, the BJP defended its alliance with Kumar, deeming it a natural progression and asserting that the NDA's double-engine government would be advantageous for Bihar.
