After New Party Announcement, Amarinder Singh To Meet Home Minister Amit Shah On Thursday

New Delhi: Former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with some agricultural experts in the national capital on Thursday to discuss possible solutions to the ongoing farmers’ stir.

“Tomorrow I am going to meet Home Minister Amit Shah and 25-30 people will go with me,” Singh told the media in Chandigarh, PTI reported.

“I think I can help in finding a solution as I have been the Chief Minister of Punjab and am also an agriculturist,” he added.

Asserting that he had met the Union Home Minister thrice in the past on farmers' issues, Singh said something will emerge during the talks as both the Centre as well as farmers want a resolution to the crisis triggered by the farm laws.

Categorically stating that he had not met any farmer leaders on the issue, the former Punjab chief minister added that he had deliberately not interfered in the matter as the farmers did not want politicians to be involved in it.

Singh further said the farmer leaders had four inconclusive meetings with the Centre but back channel talks have been going on.

Addressing the media, the former chief minister also said that he is on the verge of launching a political party and added that he would announce its launch as soon as the Election Commission of India approves its name and symbol.

Singh, who faced an unceremonious exit from the Congress-led Punjab government last month, however, made it clear any seat arrangement that he might make with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would be subject to a resolution of the farmers' issue in their interest.
