New Delhi: As promised during the Punjab Assembly election 2022, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is expected to announce 300 units of free electricity for the people of the state on Saturday, reported news agency ANI, citing sources.
The AAP government led CM Bhagwant Mann will complete one month in office on Saturday.
While speaking to reporters in Jalandhar on Thursday, Mann said, "On the 16th we will give a great good news to the people of Punjab."
According to ANI sources from the AAP, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's meeting with his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday was to discuss the scheme of providing free electricity to the people of Punjab for up to 300 units.
After the meeting between Mann and kejriwal, AAP Spokesperson Malwinder Singh Kang while speaking to reporters in Punjab also said that blueprint for giving 300 units of free electricity to people is almost ready and soon an announcement in this regard will be made, reported news agency PTI.
Providing free electricity in the state was one of the major highlights of the AAP party campaign, which was also included in the election manifesto during the Assembly elections that concluded in March.
Last month, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had rolled out doorstep ration delivery scheme in the state, another ambitious scheme of the AAP.
The Aam Aadmi party won the Assembly elections in Punjab with a thumping majority. Out of the 117 assembly seats, the party won 92 constituencies and formed government in the state. The ruling Congress party was reduced to 18 seats from the earlier 77.
