ABP News Shikhar Sammelan Bihar: Shatrughan Sinha hints at contesting from Varanasi, says ‘I was not made minister as I am from Advani camp’

The actor-turned-politician, who represents Patna Sahib in Lok Sabha, kept suspense alive on speculations of him contesting Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi.

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the 2019 Assembly elections at ABP News' Bihar Shikhar Sammelan, on Tuesday, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha, said he didn’t bag a ministerial berth in the Modi government because of showing allegiance to the Advani camp and kept suspense alive on speculations of contesting Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi. Sinha said that PM Narendra Modi did not allow him to give a feedback on demonetisation. “In one stroke like a 'Tughalqi Farman', demonetisation was announced. When I wanted to give a feedback to PM about it, I was told to meet Amit Shah.” he said. BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha came down heavily on the Modi-led central government and said “If speaking the truth is considered rebellion then I am a rebel.” Sinha further claimed that he was not made a minister because he belonged to the Advani camp. The former Union minister has, for quite some time, been critical of the Modi government as well as the party leadership on a number of occasions and shared the stage with those opposed to the current regime triggering speculations about his future political moves. The actor-turned-politician, who represents Patna Sahib in Lok Sabha, kept suspense alive on speculations of him contesting Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi. During the interview, he said “LK Advani is my guru, friend, philosopher and guide. My loyalty is more towards the people of the country than the party.” Commenting about Congress president Rahul Gandhi, he said “other party presidents must learn from Rahul Gandhi. In a year, he's ensured victories in 3 states which he said is truly commendable.” “Modi se virodh nahi hai...Mudde mudda hain. I am asked why I am not quitting BJP, but at the same time the party is also not asking me to leave. If it does I will accept the decision with love and grace” he said. With Bihar politics being a crucial determinant in the national polls, ABP News is organising its flagship conclave ‘Shikhar Sammelan’ in the state on Tuesday, to find out how the top players of Bihar politics plan to ace the elections.
