73rd Republic Day: PM Modi Pays Homage To Martyrs At National War Memorial | WATCH
The National War memorial was built by the NDA government and inaugurated in February 2019.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached at the National War Memorial to pay homage to the martyrs who have lost their lives in service to the country. He was accompanied by the Chiefs of three defence services. He also brought along a wreath of remembrance.
After two minutes of silence, the martyrs were paid tributes by the PM and then the bugle by the soldiers who gave a ‘salami’. The homage was paid to the unsung heroes who laid their lives for the future of the country.
The PM then left for the saluting base where the Republic Day Parade will begin.

The National War memorial was built by the NDA government and inaugurated in February 2019. This War Memorial contains names of all the Indian Defence personnel who lost their lives during different operations from the 1947-48 war with Pakistan till the clash in the Galwan valley with the Chinese Army.
It is built on a 40-acre land around the existing canopy of the India Gate, to honour the martyrs of various wars India has fought. It has an eternal flame called Amar Jawan Jyoti at the Amar Chakra at its centre that signifies the contribution of those who died for the country.
A few days ago, the previous Amar Jawan Jyoti from the India Gate was also merged with the flame at the National War Memorial as the former one represented the martyrs of the Indo-Pak war of 1971 as per the government of India.
