Eid-ul-Fitr 2023: People Gather Across India To Offer Prayers, Celebrate Eid — Photos And Videos

On the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr 2023, devotees across the nation were seen offering prayers and celebrating the festival.

Devotees across the nation offered prayers to celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr on Saturday (April 22),  which marked the end of the fasting month of Ramzan. The country is celebrating the festival today because the moon was seen Friday evening. The festival is observed on various days around the world and is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, which is thought to denote the start of the Shawwal month in the lunar Islamic calendar.

Devotees in Bihar's capital Patna gathered in Gandhi Maidan on Saturday morning. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also visited Gandhi Maidan this morning.

Fireworks were seen last night as people celebrated the sighting of the moon.

As soon as people sighted the moon on Friday evening, the preparations for today began in full force. The streets were thronged by the devotees shopping for things including food items. This visual is from Sadar Bazar market near Jama Masjid.

Eid-ul-Fitr commemorates the end of the month of Ramadan. It is also known as Meethi Eid or Eid al-Fitr, and it is celebrated on the first day of the Islamic month of Shawaal. On this day, people gather to break their fasts and share a meal. They also pray, make donations, and dress in new clothes. The practice of elders giving money to children as a gift is known as "Eidi."
