Campaigning for the sixth phase of polling will end today at 6 pm in Uttar Pradesh. Polling for 57 Assembly constituencies is scheduled to take place on March 3 which will include UP Chief Minister’s seat of Gorakhpur.
In today’s schedule of campaigning, Union Minister Rajnath Singh will address election rallies in Ballia and Sant Kabir Nagar, while BJP President JP Nadda will hold public meetings in Maharajganj and Kushinagar. UP CM Yogi Adityanath will be on an election tour of Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, and Balrampur.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav will hold an election rally in Ballia and Gorakhpur while UP Congress chief Priyanka Gandhi will be in Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, and Basti.
An Indian delegation will meet its Pakistani counterpart today to attend the annual meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad. The three-day meeting will conclude on March 3. For the first time since the signing of the Indus Waters Treaty between the two countries, three women officers will also be part of the Indian delegation.

The Assam government extended the contentious Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA) in the state for six more months. The notification came into effect from February 28.
