IAF To Carry Out 2-Day Exercise In Northeast From Thursday
The Indian Air Force will carry out a two-day exercise in the Northeast involving almost all its frontline fighter jets and other assets deployed in the region amid the fresh tensions between Indian and Chinese troops in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh following the last week's face-off in the area, PTI reported.
Sources said the exercise is aimed at checking the IAF's overall combat capability and military preparedness in the region.
They, however, said the exercise was planned much before the face-off between the Indian and Chinese armies and it is not related to the incident.
The sources said IAF's frontline fighter jets including Sukhoi-30MKIs and Rafale jets will be part of the exercise besides several other platforms deployed in the region.
All frontline air bases and some key Advanced Landing Grounds (ALGs) in the Northeast are set to be involved in the exercise, said a source.
The sources said the top brass of the Eastern Air Command will also undertake a comprehensive review of the IAF's preparedness in the region in view of the overall security matrix.
IGI Airport CEO Summoned By Parliamentary Panel To Discuss Congestion Issues
Amid rising complaints of congestion at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, which has led to passengers missing their flights and facing long delays while checking in due to high footfalls at peak hours, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture has summoned the airport chief to discuss the matter on December 15.
The Rajya Sabha panel headed by MP Vijaysai Reddy has summoned the CEO of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) and Chairman of the Association of Private Airport Operators on Thursday to hear their views on the "development of greenfield and brownfield airports and issues pertaining to civil enclaves in defence airports", according to the notice issued for the meeting.
The issue of congestion at Delhi airport has even reached the Parliament where several MPs last week took it up with Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in the Lok Sabha.

Delhi LG Accepts Police Proposal To Recruit 2 Special Public Prosecutors In Shraddha Murder Case
New Delhi, Dec 15 (PTI) Lt Governor V K Saxena has approved a proposal of the Delhi Police to appoint two special public prosecutors in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, Raj Niwas officials said on Thursday.
The gory details about Walkar's murder shook the entire nation last month after the Delhi Police arrested her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala on November 12.
During interrogation, Poonawala confessed to killing Walkar and chopping her body into 35 pieces and disposing them in various parts of the capital, police had said.
"LG V K Saxena has approved the proposal of the Delhi Police for appointment of Special Public Prosecutors to represent the State in the Trial Court in case FIR No. 659 dt. November 10, 2022 u/s 365/302/201 IPC, registered at PS Mehrauli.
"The matter relates to the gruesome Shraddha murder case. Madhukar Pandey and Amit Prasad, advocates, will be accordingly representing the Delhi Police as special public prosecutors in the matter," an official told PTI.
