Welcome to the ABP News HIGHLIGHTS, Monday February 24, 2021: After months in improvement in the situation, several states have witnessed sudden spike in the number of Coronavirus cases. The Union Health Ministry in its regular health update on Wednesday stated that India's total tally of COVID-19 cases jumped to 1,10,30,176 with 13,742 new infections, while the recoveries have surged to 1,07,26,702. Taking note of the development, several state administrations have swung into action enforcing strict Covid-19 preevntive guidelines. Travellers from Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab will need a negative coronavirus test report to enter Delhi from 26th February till 15th March.

Centre Lifts Embargo, Permits All Pvt Banks To Participate In Govt-Related Business
The finance ministry on Wednesday allowed all private sector banks to participate in government-related business like collection of taxes pension payments and small savings schemes. At the moment, only few large private sector are allowed to conduct government-related business.
"Embargo lifted on grant of Govt business to private banks. All banks can now participate. Private banks can now be equal partners in development of the Indian economy, furthering Govt's social sector initiatives, and enhancing customer convenience," Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a tweet.
UP Assembly Passes Anti-Conversion Law
The Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Bill, 2021 was passed by the UP Assembly on Wednesday by a voice vote. The opposition demanded that the Bill should be sent to the select committee.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna said that the new law was brought in because it had been found that young girls were being duped into conversion through marriage and people were forging their identities for this purpose.
