Operation Ajay: First batch Of Indians Expected To Return Home Today
The first batch of approximately 230 Indians is expected to return to India from Israel on a charter flight on Friday morning, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
As a series of brazen attacks on Israeli towns by Hamas militants over the weekend triggered fresh tensions in the region, India launched Operation Ajay to facilitate the return of those Indians who wish to return home.
"The first charter flight will arrive in Tel Aviv later tonight to pick up Indian citizens and will most likely return to India tomorrow morning," MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said during his weekly press conference.
According to him, there are approximately 18,000 Indians living in Israel, a dozen or so in the West Bank, and three to four in Gaza.

The theme of the 9th P20 Summit is 'Parliaments for One Earth, One Family, One Future,' which corresponds to India's G20 presidency.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) announced that Prime Minister Modi will open the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20) on October 13 at around 11 AM at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi.

The Delhi High Court will rule on Friday on NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha's and the portal's human resources department head Amit Chakravarty's petitions challenging their arrests in a case filed under anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for allegedly receiving money to spread pro-China propaganda.
The verdict will be delivered by Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, who reserved his decision on Monday after hearing all parties in the case.
On October 3, Purkayastha and Chakravarty were apprehended by the Delhi Police Special Cell.
Last week, the duo petitioned the Supreme Court, challenging their arrest as well as the 7-day police detention, and seeking immediate release as an interim relief.

Encounter Between Maoists, Security Personnel In Jharkhand
An encounter between security personnel and members of the proscribed CPI (Maoists) took place in a forest in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, PTI reported. During an anti-Maoist operation, the red rebels opened fire at security personnel, forcing them to retaliate, a senior officer said. The Maoists also triggered an IED blast in an adjacent forest. However, no one was injured.
Train Drivers Should Not Work Beyond 12 Hours: Railway Board
Train drivers’ maximum working hours should not exceed 12 hours, subject to severe operational exigencies, the Railway Board said, as it issued consolidated guidelines to all the zones on Thursday regarding the duty hours of the running staff, including drivers and guards, PTI reported.
