On Tuesday, the Supreme Court will hear bail plea of some of the convicts of 2002 Godhara train burning case.
PM Modi To Visit Pune
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Tuesday visit Pune where he will flag off metro trains and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects. He will perform Darshan and Pooja at Dagdusheth Mandir and will be conferred Lokmanya Tilak National Award. He will inaugurate the Waste to Energy Plant under Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, handover more than 1280 houses constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC.
Bill To Replace Services Ordinance In Delhi To Be Introduced In Lok Sabha
The Lok Sabha is expected to witness a stormy session on Tuesday as the Centre is ready with its bill to replace the services ordinace in Delhi. The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 seeks to replace an ordinance that mandated the creation of an authority for transfers and postings of senior officers in the Delhi government. As per the revised list of business for Tuesday, the bill will be introduced by Union home minister Amit Shah while his deputy Nityanand Rai will make a statement on the reasons for bringing an "immediate legislation" by promulgating the ordinance.
SC To Hear Bail Pleas Of 2002 Godhara Train Burning Case Convicts
The Supreme Court on Tuesday will hear the bail pleas of some of the convicts against whom specific allegations were made in the 2002 Godhra train burning case, which plunged Gujarat into a communal conflagration, as per a PTI report. The pleas will be heard by a benchcomprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra. “We have distributed the cases in four categories. In one group is where death penalties were commuted (into life imprisonment) by the high court. The other is of the convicts who have a specific part to play. We have said non-bail (in the second category). The third one is of the people who had peripheral presence and were part of the mob,” the bench said.

U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Dr. Geeta Rao Gupta will visit Gujarat, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, India from August 1-8. While in Gujarat from August 1-4, Ambassador Rao Gupta will lead the US delegation to the G20 Alliance for the Empowerment and Progression of Women’s Economic Representation (G20 EMPOWER) Conference and the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women’s Empowerment hosted by the Government of India, ANI reported.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today raided 31 locations across Punjab and Haryana to unravel and unearth the full contours of the conspiracy behind the March 19 attack on the High Commission of India in London and bring to book the various attackers and assailants. The raids led to the seizure of digital data containing information related to the accused persons involved in the attack on the High Commission and other incriminating documents and evidence. The districts where these searches took place today include Moga, Barnala, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Tarn Taran, Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, SBS Nagar, Amritsar, Mukhtsar, Sangrur, Patiala, Mohali in Punjab and Sirsa in Haryana, ANI reported.
