TET Protesters Move Calcutta HC Against Single Bench Order Imposing Sec 144 At Stir Venue

Hours after being removed from the protest site by the police, teaching job aspirants filed a petition before the Calcutta High Court challenging a single bench order that imposed Section 144 of the CrPC at the venue.


The candidates, in the petition on Friday, claimed that they have a right to hold a peaceful protest.


Firdaus Shamim, the lawyer for the petitioners, said on Saturday that the appeal against the single bench order will be taken up for hearing on October 28 by a division bench.


Hundreds of candidates were staging a sit-in, earlier in the week, outside the West Bengal Board of Primary Education office at Karunamoyee in Salt Lake, near here, claiming that they were denied jobs in state-sponsored and –aided schools despite having cleared Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) way back in 2014.


Some had even resorted to hunger strike to press for their demand.


They were removed from the protest venue by the police following a Calcutta High Court order enforcing section 144 of the CrPC at the site of agitation. (PTI)

Army chopper crash in Arunachal: Court of Inquiry's probe to focus on May Day call, efforts underway to retrieve fifth body

There were five personnel onboard when the mishap took place. Four mortal remains have been retrieved by the late evening of 21 October. As per the latest reports, efforts are on to retrieve the fifth body, ANI reported


It is reported that the weather was good for flying operations. The pilots had more than 600 combined flying hours on the Advance Light Helicopter (Weapon Systems Integrated) and over 1800 service flying hours between them. The aircraft was inducted into service in June 2015.


ANI reported that Prior to the crash, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) had received a May Day call suggesting a technical or mechanical failure.  This will form the focus of the Court of Inquiry, which has been immediately constituted to investigate the causes of the accident.

Jharkhand: Gang rape case reported in Chaibasa

A case of gang rape with a software engineer has been reported in Chaibasa on October 20. Police have registered the FIR against 10 accused. SIT has been formed to probe the case. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused, Chaibasa Police said, as reported by ANI.


The victim stated that on the evening of Oct 20, she had gone out with her friend. They were having a conversation on the roadside. Meanwhile, 8-10 people came to them. They first beat up the two, forcefully took the victim woman to a secluded place and raped her: Chaibasa Police

PM Narendra Modi To Launch 'Rozgar Mela' Today


Prime Minister Modi will launch the ‘Rozgar Mela', a drive to recruit 10 lakh people, on Saturday via video-conference and appointment letters will be given to 75,000 candidates during this ceremony. Moreover, 50 Union ministers will be handing over appointment letters to nearly 20,000 people at different locations across the country.


These ministers will be personally handing over the letters of appointment to some candidates, selected for different government jobs, at their designated locations as part of the 'Rozgar Mela', PTI reported.


According to the list of Saturday's event, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will be in Jaipur to hand over appointment letters, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will be in Bhopal and Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur will be in Chandigarh.


Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar will be in Indore on Saturday, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in Mumbai, Port, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be in Guwahati, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in Bhubaneswar, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in Patiala and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be in Chennai, the officials said.


Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju will be handing over appointment letters to the candidates in Shillong and Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh in Delhi.


In June this year, the prime minister had asked various government departments and ministries to undertake the recruitment of 10 lakh people on a "mission mode" in the next year and a half.


Reliance Jio To Announce Launch Of 5G Services In Rajasthan


Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited will announce the launch of 5G services in Rajasthan from the famous Shrinathji temple in Nathdwara town of Rajsamand on Saturday, a company official said. Company chairman Akash Ambani will dedicate the services to Srinathji -- the deity of the Ambani family, PTI reported.


The commercial launch will take place later. "The launch of 5G services will transform the lives of people in Rajasthan. It will make them technology savvy at par with global citizens," the official said.
