Andhra Pradesh: Teachers Take To Streets Across State Demanding Suspension Of PRC Pay Scales

Teachers appealed to district collectorates throughout the state that the Government Order revising their pay scales should be withdrawn.

Hyderabad: Government school teachers in Andhra Pradesh took to the streets on Thursday to intensify their protest against "unsatisfactory" salary revisions. They have appealed to district collectorates throughout the state, demanding the immediate abolition of the new pay scales.

The teachers' unions have staged a sit-in under the auspices of the United Platform, demanding immediate reversal of the government's decision on the Pay Revision Commission. Many teachers from all over the district participated in the protest, during which slogans were raised against the government.

Tension prevailed as the police tried to stop the teachers and employees from protesting, according to an ABP Desam report. The police arrested a few teachers' union leaders.
