Aanvi Kamdar, a 26-year-old travel and lifestyle influencer died after falling into a 300-foot gorge at Kumbhe waterfall near Maharashtra's Raigad. She went on the trip on July 16 when the outing took a tragic turn as Aanvi slipped into a deep gorge. According to a report by news agency PTI, the Mangaon police station official said that Aanvi, a resident of Mumbai’s Mulund area, had come to the picturesque waterfall for an outing with her friends amid rains and while making a video of the scenic surroundings, she slipped and fell into the gorge.

On being alerted by her friends, local authorities swiftly responded to the emergency, and a rescue team rushed to the scene. Additional support was sought from the Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, and Maharashtra State Electricity Board staff.

"As soon as we reached the spot, we realised that the girl had fallen nearly 300-350 feet. Even after reaching her, it was difficult to get her up, as she was injured and it was raining heavily. So we decided to get her out using a vertical pulley," NDTV quoted a rescuer as saying.

The PTI report also suggests that police and local rescuers reached the spot and rushed her to the nearby Mangaon Taluka government hospital, where she died during treatment.

After this incident, local authorities issued an appeal to tourists and citizens alike, urging everyone to be responsible while travelling and prioritise safety while exploring the scenic beauty of the Sahyadri ranges.
