Organza Fabric Is Back In Fashion. Know Why It Is Everyone's Favourite

The word 'Organza' has been derived from the word ‘organzine’ which according to the Collins Dictionary means a strong thread of twisted strands of raw silk.

The changes in the ‘trend’ of the fashion industry are directly linked to the promotion of a particular style. These days the most trendy fabric in the market is ‘Organza’.  The word 'Organza' has been derived from the word ‘organzine’ which according to the Collins Dictionary means a strong thread of twisted strands of raw silk.

The fabric has been in existence for a long time, the invention of the fabric can be traced back to the times when Silk Route was prevalent and in use for trading. It is also believed that the fabric has its roots in China.

What Exactly Is ‘Organza’ Fabric

Organza, the fabric is determined for its softness and thinness. It is a sheer, lightweight, plain woven fabric that earlier used to be made from silk. Nowadays, due to the pressure of mass production Organzas are being made from synthetic fabrics as well.

It is been described that the best form of Organza is assessed by the tiny holes present in it. These very tiny holes determine the quality of organza, the number of holes per inch denotes the quality of organza.

The history of Organza fabric is mostly documented by Angela Cartwright, in the book ‘Mixed Emulsions: Altered Art Techniques for Photographic Imagery’, the book provides an insight as to what kind of other uses the fabric provided and at places in the world, the Fabric was woven.

The book says that the fabric was initially woven in the Zhejiang in China, coarser silk organza used to be woven in India, and deluxe organza silk was woven in Italy and France.

Why ‘Organza’ Is Popular These Days?

There are various factors behind the popularity of the Organza fabric, but there can be only one reason behind its popularity in current times, social media, particularly, Instagram. The kind of craze this fabric has attained is just because of its promotion on social media platforms. Following are the reasons discussed in detail that can explain the popularity of the fabric:

Simple & Sober: Organza is a good-to-go fabric for all occasions. Be it a wedding party or a simple get-together, outfits made up of this fabric fit every occasion. The look carried with this fabric can be made heavy and light by accessorising the outfit with complimentary jewels.

Lightweight: The best thing about Organza is that it's extremely thin and lightweight. This kind of fabric is ideal for the weather conditions of India and the subcontinent. During monsoons this fabric is one of the most ideal fabrics available, as it's thinner in nature it gets dry easily even if it's raining heavily.

Elegant Look: The shimmery look that this fabric generates is priceless. Comfortable, shimmery, lightweight, and customisable look, all of these combination makes this fabric generate an elegant look.

Price: Organza provides an alternative to chiffon and other kinds of lightweight fabric. Different kinds of Organza are priced differently. But it is for sure that organza is highly affordable and accessible, and this factor makes the middle and lower middle-class section of people access this fabric, and hence, it is one of the reasons for its popularity.

Great Promotions: One of the best uses of social media is to showcase and impart information to a huge audience within seconds (it has its own pros and cons). Fashion designers, stylists, and other fashion industrialists use this medium to introduce their experiences with aesthetic visuals and audio, which creates an impact on audiences. Users of social media just do not consume what is being provided they add their creativity and contribute and interact with the trendsetters to even reach a wider audience.

The success of Organza fabric in current times can be hugely credited to the expansion and reach of social media.

Organza is undoubtedly in style right now, and while there may be a number of reasons for this, they are all in favour of this fabric. The fabric has managed to become everyone's favourite since it seems so perfect.
