Protect from moisture
During the rainy season, the air contains a lot of moisture. Hence chickpea gets infested by insects in the rainy season due to the moisture. So whenever you buy chickpea (Kabuli chana) from the market, store it in a dry place away from moisture. If for some reason it has been exposed to moisture, dry it well and store it again. You can also roast it. Try to store it in an airtight container.
Use red chillies
If you want to store chickpea for a long time, store it with red chilies. Whole red chillies prevent worm infestation. Add some dry red chillies to the containers in which you store the chickpea. Chillies prevent the infestation of insects.
Use bay leaves
You can also use bay leaves to protect chickpea from insects. The fragrance of bay leaves keeps the insects away. You can put two or three bay leaves in the chickpea container. It will keep the insects away.
Use cinnamon
You can also use cinnamon to protect chickpea from insects. The fragrance of cinnamon drives away all the insects. You can put a few pieces of cinnamon in the chickpea container and then close it. All insects will die due to their aroma.
