Bhai Dooj 2021: Bhai Dooj Being Celebrated All Over India Today, Know Auspicious Time For 'Tilak'

Bhai Dooj 2021: On this day, sisters felicitate their brothers by applying 'Tilak' on their forehead, while praying for their long life.

Bhai Dooj 2021 Tilak Time: As per Hindu Calendar, Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the second day of Shukla Paksha in Kartik month every year. On this day, sisters felicitate their brothers by applying 'Tilak' on their forehead, while praying for their long life. Brothers also express their love towards their sisters by giving them gifts. Bhai Dooj is also known as Yama Dwitiya. An oil lamp is lit and kept at the entrance of the house, in honor of Yamaraj. Doing so eliminates the chances of pre-mature death in siblings. Let us have a look at the auspicious time for 'Tilak' on Bhai Dooj, along with the right way to worship and a list of the things needed for worship.

Bhai Dooj Tilak Shubh Muhurat 2021:

According to astrologers, the festival of Bhai Dooj would be celebrated on Saturday, November 6. Just like the festival of Raksha Bandhan, sisters pray for their brothers' long and happy life on this day. The auspicious time for celebrating Bhai Dooj would start at 11.14 pm on November 5th and end at 7.44 pm on November 6th. Sisters could apply 'Tilak' on their brothers' forehead between 1.10 pm and 3.21 pm on this auspicious day. The auspicious time window for Tilak would be 2 hours and 11 minutes long.

The right way to worship on the eve of Bhai Dooj:

On the eve of Bhai Dooj, sisters should wake up early in the morning and after taking a bath, worship Lord Vishnu or Lord Ganesha for their brothers' long life. After applying vermilion and rice paste on their brother's hands, a sister has to put a betel leaf on his hand, which should have a betel nut and a silver coin on it. Then, the sister would have to do a chant for her brother's long life, while pouring water slowly on her brother's hand. This would be the same hand holding the betel leaf, betel nut, and silver coin on it. The sister then needs to apply 'Tilak' on her brother's forehead and then pray for his long life by performing an 'Aarti'. This is then followed by the tying of a 'Kalava' on the brother's wrist. She would then feed her brother a mixture of butter and sugar or something sweet. The worship ends with an 'Aarti' of gods and goddesses. In the end, the sister serves her brother a meal with her own hands, as the brother gives her gifts for the occasion.

Things needed for worship on Bhai Dooj:

While applying 'Tilak' to her brother on Bhai Dooj, the sister must have the following things on the worship plate, Vermilion, Flowers, Rice, Betel Nuts, Betel Leaves, Silver Coin, Coconut, a garland made of flowers, Sweets, Kalava, 'Doob' grass and Bananas. Bhai Dooj cannot be done without these items.
