'Wife Targeted Earlier, Now My Daughter': Pinarayi Vijayan Asserts Clean Hands Amid IT Firm Allegations

Addressing the controversies during conclusion of debate on Motion of Thanks to Governor's Policy Address in the assembly, Pinarayi with a smile, asserted that he remains unaffected by the allegations

In a first reaction to charges against his daughter T Veena's now-defunct IT company, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that earlier his wife was targeted and now accusations are being made against his daughter. He, however, claimed that his hands were clean and the allegations would not affect him.

Recent accusations against Veena's company have stirred up Kerala politics prompting the opposition Congress-led UDF to call for a central agency investigation into alleged illicit transactions with a private minerals company.

Addressing the controversies during the conclusion of the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor's Policy Address in the assembly, the CM, with a smile, asserted that he remains unaffected by the allegations because his hands are clean.

"Before, the allegations were against my wife. Now, it has slowly shifted towards the daughter," the CM said.

He further explained that his daughter's IT company was established using funds provided by his wife sourced from her pension.

Amidst the ongoing scrutiny, Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, V D Satheesan, called for a CBI or Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into the allegations surrounding the now-defunct IT firm, citing reported irregularities found by the Registrar of Companies (ROC) earlier this month.

Vijayan's response came two days after the Congress alleged a "secret pact" between the Left party and the Sangh Parivar. This claim surfaced following the appointment of senior lawyer C.S. Vaidyanathan, with a history in Ram Janmabhoomi-related cases, to handle the alleged graft case involving Vijayan's daughter Veena.

Vaidyanathan, previously counsel for Ram Lalla in the Ram Janmabhoomi case, has been chosen to represent the state-run KSIDC. Despite Vijayan asserting that his hands are clean, he refrained from commenting on the ongoing Ministry of Corporate Affairs probe into his daughter’s firm.
