Raman Singh's son says 'Panama' allegations 'politically motivated'

Chhattisgarh [India], July 30 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh's son and Member of Parliament Abhishek Singh on Sunday said allegations against him in Panama Papers leak are politically motivated.

In a statement, Abhishek issued clarification on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's allegations of his and his family's involvement in the Panama Papers.

Abhishek said the allegations are untrue and politically motivated.

Issue of my so-called foreign account being raised is completely untrue and politically motivated, Abhishek said, and added that "I have no foreign bank account and have not invested in any foreign company".

He said as far as the question of investigation is concerned, it is a known fact that the Centre has already constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe black money and illegal foreign bank accounts.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier alleged that Raman Singh, son Abhishek Singh and other family names are involved in the Panama Papers, but no action has been taken against them.

Gandhi said that BJP leaders speak so 'loudly' that even their lies seem to be the truth.

He also said that the prime minister makes tall claims to curb corruption in the country, but cannot see corruption of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister.

Chhattisgarh will go for polls to elect members from the 90 constituencies in the state next year.(ANI)
