Private sector is equally corrupted: CVC

New Delhi [India], Nov 1 (ANI): Central Vigilance Commissioner KV Chowdhary on Wednesday said that private sector is equally corrupted.

Speaking to ANI, KV Chowdhary said, "In majority of the cases, private parties, in order to avail benefit, gets indulged in corruption. Any place where there is demand of goods and services, there is corruption. Corruption in government is institutionalised but in private the discretion is less."

"As far as investigation is concerned, every month we review to improve tracking of corruption cases. We have requested the law ministry and Chief Justice of India to find some solutions on the same," said KV Chowdhary, who attended the Vigilance Awareness Week at ONGC.

"Our Whistleblower Act has not yet got notified. So the works for whistleblower are done under public interest disclosure policy. There are some protections under it but they are not adequate," said KV Chowdhary on being asked about the system to protect whistleblowers.

On October 26, a team headed by Chowdary unanimously cleared elevation of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Rakesh Asthana as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director. (ANI)
