Himachal Chief Electoral Officer denies EVM tampering

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India] December 18 (ANI): Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Himachal Pradesh Pushpendra Rajput denying tampering of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the state Assembly elections on Monday said that the machines cannot be manipulated and urged people to ignore the rumours surrounding it.

Speaking to ANI, the CEO said, "EVMs are completely secure and any sort of manipulation is impossible. I want to request everyone to ignore rumours related to this. We have so far not received any complaints in this issue".

He added that the elections conducted through EVMs and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) is completely unbiased.

"Himachal Pradesh polling was conducted peacefully and no such cases were witnessed where law and order was disrupted," Rajput stated.

BJP won the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections with 44 seats, while Congress 20, CPI-M and Independent won one each in the 68 Assembly seats. (ANI)
