BJP questions Congress' silence on Robert Vadra-Sanjay Bhandari link
New Delhi [India] Oct. 17 (ANI): Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday launched a fresh salvo against the Congress party and questioned their unusual silence on the involvement of party chief Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in various matters.
Sitharaman, pointing on various instance of connection between Robert Vadra and absconding arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari, said the silence of the party on such issues suggests that they are well aware of the facts and just over looked it.
"Why is the senior leadership of the Congress silent on the Vadra matter?" Sitharaman asked
Sitharaman raised the issue of Vadra's London flat at 12, Ellerton House, Bryanton Square, which is said to be refurbished by Bhandari in 2016.
"Refurbishing Vadra's house in London, for which main exchanges happened between them, as to what to be done, where to be done and others. All this is out in the public domain and e-mail exchange that has happened between Robert Vadra and Sanjay Bhandari," she said.
She asserted that a lump sum amount of 7.8 lakh Swiss franc was paid to Sanjay Bhandari and asked the party to explain what the money was meant for.
Sitharaman also asserted that the recent revelation, as per which a business class ticket was booked by the absconding arms agent for Robert Vadra in 2012 is also suspicious and draw attention towards the close connection they share.
She even lashed out at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and asked him to speak on the issue of grave concern.
"Why Rahul Gandhi has remained silence. No tweets on the flats getting refurbished, no tweet on his brother-in-law getting money. Is the congress leadership by remaining silence suggesting that yes they looked it but took it the other way? Can somebody from congress cannot come and give this platitude but tell us how this happened," she asked. (ANI)
