Zydus Commences Supplies Of Its Needle-Free Anti-Covid Vaccine ZyCoV-D To Centre

New Delhi: The nationwide inoculation drive will get a boost as pharmaceutical company Zydus announced that it has commenced supply of its anti-Covid vaccine to the Central Government.
Zydus will supply the Covid19 vaccine ZyCoV-D to the government of India from its state-of-the -art biotech park in Changodar, Ahmedabad.
“We have started the supply of the three-dose ZyCoV-D to the Government of India. We are also planning to make it available in the private market,” news agency ANI quoted Zydus.

The pharmaceutical company is also in the process of making the vaccine available in the private market. The anti-Covid vaccine ZyCoV-D will be administered in three doses intradermally.
It is also the only needle-free and painless coronavirus vaccine in the world that will be administered on day 0, 28 and day 56. It is also the world's first Plasmid DNA vaccine,
In August last year, the ZyCoV-D vaccine received emergency use authorisation from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).
The vaccine will be priced at Rs 265 per dose, while the price of the applicator is fixed at Rs 93 (Excluding GST) through which the dose will be administered each time.
ZyCov-D was approved last year for use in both adults and children over 12 years but only Covaxin is being used for children currently.
Meanwhile, 57,42,659 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine has been administered to people across the country in the last 24 hours. This brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,67,29,42,707.
India's active caseload has declined by 1,21,456, while the total number of Covid cases now stands at 16,21,603. On Wednesday 1,61,386 new Covid-19 cases were reported which is 3.4% lower than yesterday.
