Mandaviya made the announcement after holding a meeting with his counterparts and representatives from the states and Union Territories.

Mandaviya, who discussed scaling up of the vaccination drive in the country, said 77 percent of the eligible population in India has been vaccinated against Covid-19 with the first dose.

“32 percent people have received both doses,” he added, ANI reported.

Asserting that over 10 crore people have not taken the second dose of Covid vaccine, Mandaviya said the people eligible for second dose should take the vaccine and urged all to complete their course.

As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Central government has been supporting the states and Union Territories by providing them Covid vaccines free of cost.

In the new phase of the universalisation of the Covid-19 vaccination drive, the Centre will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 percent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to the states and Union Territories.
