Covid Update: Sharp Spike In Positivity Rate. New Cases Cross 3000-Mark In Last 24 Hrs

With the surge in Covid infections, the daily positivity rate has also increased to 0.66% and the active case tally is now at 16,980.

New Delhi: India has recorded a massive spike in the cases of coronavirus infections as the country crossed the 3,000-mark on Wednesday. According to the data shared by the Ministry of Health Affairs, as many as 3,303 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.

With the addition of new coronavirus cases, India's active caseload currently stands at 16,980, which is 0.04% of the total cases. 

The daily positivity rate has also increased to 0.66% due to the surge in infections.

As many as 2,563 patients recovered from the deadly virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 4,25,28,126, The recovery rate now stands at 98.74%.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 186 new coronavirus infections, 112 of them in state capital Mumbai, and zero pandemic-related deaths, the state health department said. The day before, the state had recorded 153 new cases, including 102 in Mumbai, and four fatalities.

On Wednesday, the state's COVID-19 caseload rose to 78,77,264 and death toll remained unchanged at 1,47,838.

Mumbai recorded 112 fresh cases.

Delhi 

The national capital also recorded a spike in Coronavirus infections with 1,367 fresh Covid-19 cases on Wednesday and one death due to the virus.

According to the data released by the health department, the number of active cases has increased to 4,832, the highest figure since February 10. The number of active Covid cases in Delhi was 5,438 on February 10. As far as the infection rate is concerned, it has been recorded at 4.50 per cent in the last 24 hours.
