Coronavirus: India Crosses 26 Lakh-Mark; Recovery Rate Over 72%, Fatality Rate Dips | A Look At Imp Numbers

Coronavirus in India: Marking a slight cut in its daily Covid-19 cases, India on Monday witnessed nearly 58,000 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, while 941 deaths were recorded. A day before, on Sunday, a spike of 63,489 cases and 944 deaths were reported. As per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the overall tally is now 26,47,664 including 6,76,900 active cases, 19,19,843 discharged/migrated & 50,921 deaths . Total testing: India has touched a mark of 3 Crore till August 16, 2020. 3,00,41,400 samples tested up to 16th August for Covid-19. Of these, 7,31,697 samples were tested yesterday, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said. Positivity & fatality rate low because of enhanced testing: Ministry of health Focussing on timely and aggressive testing, India has exceeded 3 crore tests. Enhanced and timely testing is not only keeping the Positivity Rate low but also the Fatality Rate low, said the Ministry of Health Recovery rate: India’s recovery rate has improved further to 72.51% with 19,19,842 cured patients. The fatality rate has further dropped to 1.92% with 50,921 deaths so far. Total COVID-19 confirmed cases = Cured/Discharged/Migrated+Active cases+Deaths State-wise data: Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with a total of 5,95,865 cases and 20,037 deaths; followed by Tamil Nadu with 3,38,055 cases and 5,766 deaths. The southern state is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. Check state-wise data as per the MoHFW.
