Riot Games Releases Valorant For PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X/S, Introduces New 'Focus' Mode

Valorant is now accessible for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil.

There is a piece of good news in the market for Valorant lovers. Some PlayStation and Xbox users used to complain about the unavailability of Valorant on PS and Xbox. The developer paid heed to their concerns and delivered on it. The developer, Riot Games, has finally launched Valorant for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The free-to-play 5v5 first-person tactical shooter, which was in beta in June, is now accessible for consoles in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil, with Riot Games claiming that the gameplay and characters will be the same as on the PC.

To protect "competitive integrity," the company also said that the console version of Valorant would not allow cross-play. Cross-progression support is coming to devices, though, so the characters and skins you unlock on PC will follow you there.

It's also important to know that the PC and mobile versions of the game will both get updates to the maps, new agents, and other things at the same time. It looks like Riot has also added a new shooting mode called "Focus" and made the controller for the computer version of Valorant better for hip-fire.

What Is Focus Mode

The production director of Valorant, Arnar Gylfason, while describing this new mode said, “Focus is a new shooting mode that behaves essentially like hip-fire, but with reduced sensitivity. This way, players can use hip-fire whenever they need speed in moving their camera/aim, but utilise focus mode whenever they need precision."

Gylfason added, "This also approximates the shooting mechanic to what console players are used to in shooters, all of this without losing the added value Valorant’s aim down sights provides.”

According to reports, Riot Games plans to make the console version of Valorant available in other regions as well, however, at the moment it is still unclear when that will happen.
