Warner Bros Puts A Halt To The Release Of ‘The Batman’ In Russia

The Batman is planned to be released on Friday, March 4, in North America as well as in several foreign countries.

New Delhi: In response to Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, Warner Bros has suspended the release of "The Batman" in Russia just days before it was set to premiere in theatres there. 

The decision comes as Hollywood moves to block distribution plans in the nation. In a statement, a spokesperson from WarnerMedia stated that “In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film ‘The Batman’ in Russia. We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy.”

Each studio has a number of big forthcoming titles that were scheduled to make their worldwide debuts in the future weeks. Another major studio has halted plans to distribute "Morbius," a Marvel antihero solo picture, as well as all other upcoming theatre releases in Russia, later on, Monday evening.

In addition to Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, which was released in Russia on April 14, and the animated DC League of Super-Pets, which was released on May 19, more Warner Bros. films were scheduled to be released in Russia in the near future.

According to the report, Netflix has announced that it would refuse to broadcast Russian official propaganda in the face of a law that takes effect on March 1st in the nation.

As a result of the Russia-Ukraine crisis, Russia's national soccer team was forbidden from participating in FIFA and UEFA events, and the country was also barred from participating in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).
