Vivek Agnihotri Press Conference Cancelled In Delhi, Says He Is A Victim of Hate-Campaign Against 'The Kashmir Files'

Earlier 'The Kashmir Files' filmmaker, Vivek Agnihotri, called out Wikipedia for describing his film with words he did not agree with. Wikipedia described the film as 'fictional'

New Delhi: Vivek Agnihotri took to his official Twitter account to share news that his press conference was canceled in Delhi 'in an undemocratic manner as part of a hate-campaign against #TheKashmirFiles.'

The 'Kashmir Files' director shared a video of himself along with a post that read, "IMPORTANT: ALL MEDIA 

1. Foreign Correspondents Club, New Delhi has canceled my PC on 5th May in an undemocratic manner as part of a hate-campaign against #TheKashmirFiles. 

2. I am holding an open-house PC at the Press Club of India on the 5th at 4 PM. All media are invited."

In the video, we can see Vivek explaining in detail how his press conference was canceled. He can be heard saying in the video,"I became a victim of hate-campaign, my free speech was banned by the watchdogs of free speech-the media..."

Earlier 'The Kashmir Files' filmmaker called out Wikipedia for describing his film with words he did not agree with. Wikipedia described the film as 'fictional', among other things.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Vivek shared a picture of the wikipedia description and wrote, "Dear @Wikipedia, You forgot to add ‘Islamophobia… propaganda… sanghi… bigot… etc’. You are failing your Secular credentials. Hurry, edit more," reported HT. The tweet has now been removed.

Agnihotri's movie 'The Kashmir Files' depicted the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits in the 90s in teh Kashmir Valley. Its representation of such a sensitive issue received a mixed response from fans and critics alike. Many criticized the polar representation that showed one community in an extreme ideological position.

Controversy or not, the film did exceptionally well at the box office and broke many records in terms of the collection. 'The Kashmir Files' will also begin streaming on ZEE5 May 13 onwards.
