Pushpa 2 Sets Record With Highest Ticket Prices For A Telugu Film; Allu Arjun Thanks Andhra CM

Following the Andhra Pradesh government's announcement of a ticket price hike for Pushpa 2: The Rule, actor Allu Arjun expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for their support of the Telugu film industry.

Allu Arjun’s Message

Taking to X, Allu Arjun wrote: "I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for approving the ticket hike. This progressive decision demonstrates your steadfast commitment to the growth and prosperity of the Telugu film industry."

Record-Breaking Ticket Prices

According to an India Today report, tickets for Pushpa 2 have become the highest-priced ever for a Telugu film. Paid preview shows, scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, at 9:30 pm in select theatres, will be priced at ₹944 (inclusive of GST) at both single screens and multiplexes.

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved six daily shows of Pushpa 2 across single screens and multiplexes at ₹324.50 and ₹413, respectively. Furthermore, the government has allowed five shows daily at the same rates for 12 days, from December 6 to 17.

Controversy in Telangana

Meanwhile, the Telangana government previously faced criticism for increasing ticket prices for Pushpa 2. Tickets in Telangana are priced at ₹1,200 (paid previews), ₹531 (multiplexes), and ₹354 (single screens). A petition challenging the price hike is set to be heard in the Telangana High Court today, December 3, a day before the movie’s premiere.

About the Film

Directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, Pushpa 2 stars Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, reprising their roles as Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekawat, respectively.

Allu Arjun, who won a National Film Award for his performance in the first installment, returns in the sequel, which continues the story of power struggles amidst red sandalwood smuggling. Pushpa 2 is set to release in theatres on December 5.
