Malayalam Star Nivin Pauly Responds To Sexual Assault Case Against Him: 'This Is Entirely Untrue'

In a new development post the Justice Hema Committee Report, actor Nivin Pauly has come under sexual abuse and harassment allegations.

New Delhi: In a new development post the Justice Hema Committee Report, actor Nivin Pauly has come under sexual abuse and harassment allegations. Kerala Police has filed a non-bailable case against the actor for allegedly assaulting an anspiring actor.

The survivor filed a police complaint in Ernakulam alleging that the actor brought her to Dubai in the pretext of offering a role in a film, where he sexually assaulted her in November 2023. After receiving the complaint, it is reported that the police conducted a preliminary investigation before filing a case, and five other people, including a film producer have been accused.

Nivin Pauly is said to be the sixth-accused.

The case has been registered by the Oonnukal Police in Ernakulam.

Responding to the said allegations, Nivin Pauly released a statement dismissing these charges as 'entirely untrue'. He wrote on his official X handle, "I have come across a false news report accusing me of abusing a girl. Please know that this is entirely untrue. I’m determined to go to any extent to prove these allegations are baseless, and will take all necessary steps to bring those responsible to light. Thank you for your concern. The rest will be handled legally.”

This comes in light of several allegations that have surfaced against many actors from the Malayalam film industry. There are cases being investigated against Mukesh, Jayasurya, Siddique, and director Ranjith. The Kerala government has created a Special Investigation Team for this purpose.

Only recently, the National Commission for Women( NCW) expressed concerns over the release of incomplete Justice Hema Committee's report. As per a press note which it shared on Sep 1, 2024, the NCW asked for the complete report to be made public.

"The Commission has observed with concern the findings of the Hema Committee Report, which have been discussed in various media outlets. The report points to serious issues such as workplace harassment, gender-based discrimination, and other forms of exploitation that adversely affect women in the Malayalam Film Industry," it noted.

"In response to these concerns, the NCW has taken steps to seek the complete Hema Committee Report, as it appears that only parts of it are currently available in the public domain. The Commission is committed to furthering its efforts in addressing these matters with the appropriate authorities to ensure that the rights of women are upheld and that a safe, equitable working environment is fostered within the industry," the note further added.
