New Delhi: 'The Greatest of All Time' (GOAT) is all set for a release on Sep 5, 2024. As Thalapathy fans await the release of this action-thriller by Venkat Prabhu, here is everything to know about the Vijay starrer; from budget, superstar's salary from the film, cast, plot and more.

About GOAT

Vijays' 68th and penultimate film before he joins politics, 'The Greatest of All Time' is a science-fiction action thriller that stars Vijay as a R&AW agent. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, it marks Vijay's first collaboration with the filmmaker. 

GOAT plot

Gandhi( Vijay, in a double role) is a special field agent, who specialises in espionage and hostage negotiation. He works for the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS), which is under RAW. Following his team and his retirement, chickens come home to roost, major problems stemming from previous actions that they may have done in the prime of their youth on field duty.

GOAT cast

While Vijay will be seen in dual roles as Gandhi and Jeevan, other star cast includes Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, Jayaram, Sneha, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Laila, Vaibhav and more.

In addition, Vijayakanth and YG Mahendran will also be seen in cameos in the film.

GOAT budget

It is a known fact among fans that 'GOAT' has been filmed in Thailand, Russia, USA, Sri Lanka, and closer home in Chennai and Hyderabad.

With CGI and AI used in a science-fiction film, with a superstar like Vijay in it, the production cost of 'GOAT' is quite high. As per India Today, the film's estimated cost of production or budget has been around Rs. 300-400 cr.

Vijay salary GOAT

As per an ETimes report, Vijay has received Rs. 200 cr for his role in GOAT and the makers have offically confirmed the lead actor's paycheck.

GOAT advance booking sales

As per industry tracking site, Sacnilk, GOAT has already raked in Rs. 19 cr from advance ticket sales. Out of this, over Rs. 12 cr has come from Tamil Nadu alone.

'GOAT' has also left behind Kamal Haasan's biggest opener 'Indian 2' in terms of advance bookings collection.

‘GOAT’ is also doing exceptional numbers in advance bookings abroad, especially in the UK, where it also made history by becoming the first South Indian film to feature on London’s iconic Leiceister Square Screen.

GOAT estimated box office 

While 'Indian 2' made Rs. 26 cr nett on opening day, trade analysts expect 'GOAT' to fetch in Rs. 40 cr on its opening day. 

Meanwhile, Vijay's last film 'Leo' which released in 2023, was one the biggest hits of the year with an opening day collection of Rs. 148.5 cr worldwide gross.

GOAT movie release date and time

The Greatest of All Time, aka GOAT, will be released in theatres on September 5, 2024. In Tamil Nadu, makers have received permission to release the film as early as 9:00 AM.
