Sai Pallavi, Sivakarthikeyan starrer 'Amaran' has released in theatres to a massive response. The war biopic has smashed box office records in Tamil Nadu on Day 1 of release. The film is based on Major Mukund Varadarajan and is also a critical success. On Diwali, the film collected Rs. 21 cr net in India, the highest ever for a Sivakarthikeyan film.

Sacnilk.com reported that Amaran collected Rs. 21.21 cr net on Friday in the domestic market. The film's occupancy rate in Tamil Nadu is quite good. As per the same industry tracking site, 'Amaran' has collected Rs. 15 cr gross in its home state. As per analysts, 'Amaran' has done better than Vijay's 'GOAT' and Rajinikanth's 'Vettaiyan'. 'Amaran has managed to leave even the big Kamal Haasan actioner- 'Indian 2' which was one the biggest Tamil released in 2024. 'Indian 2' grossed Rs. 13 cr in Tamil Nadu on its release day.
Despite Diwali not being the major festival weekend in the Tamil and Telugu states for a big film oppening, Amaran's opening suggests that the film has been accepted and loved by the audience.
'Amaran' is doing well because of its good word-of-mouth. The overseas business figures are yet to arrive to push the film further. As per earlye estimates, the film will cross Rs. 100 cr grosser in the first week iteself, possibly even the first weekend, if things go smoothly.
About Amaran
'Amaran' is directled by Rajkumar Periasamy and chronicles the story of Major Mukund, an Ashoka Chakra awaredee, who lost his life during a counterterrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir as part of the 44th Rashtryia Rifles battalion.
Sivakarthikeyan plays the lead role, with Sai Pallavi playing the late major's wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese. Other key characters in the film are played by Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, Shyam Mohan, Shreekumar and Lallu.
