Taking place on November 15 and 16, this year’s edition promises a star-studded event featuring a mix of international and Indian artists for two days of memorable performances. With global pop icons and local legends, the festival will celebrate music, culture, and unity in a spectacular fashion.

Akon to perform at Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2024

A major highlight of the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2024 is its impressive lineup of international talent. Leading the way is Senegalese-American pop star Akon, known for chart-topping hits like “Smack That” and “Lonely.” After performing earlier this year at the high-profile wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, Akon will return to India for an exclusive live show that is sure to be one of the festival’s biggest moments.

Also creating buzz is Maizie Williams of the iconic pop group Boney M, who will be performing as part of her farewell world tour. Boney M, known for timeless hits like "Rivers of Babylon" and "Rasputin," holds a special place in the hearts of Indian fans. Williams' performance offers a rare opportunity for audiences to relive the magic of one of the most beloved pop groups of the 1970s and 80s.

K-Pop artist Lucas and others to perform as well

A Russian tribute band, Queen Sensation, will perform classics from the legendary British group Queen, while Slovakian band Korn SK will bring the raw energy of nu-metal pioneers Korn to the stage. Although the festival poster led some to mistakenly believe the original Korn would be performing, these tribute bands will still offer powerful performances.

While the international acts are set to draw large crowds, the festival also celebrates a robust lineup of Indian talent. Jasleen Royal, known for hits like "Din Shagna Da" and "Love You Zindagi," will bring her signature indie-Bollywood fusion to the stage, while Kanika Kapoor, famous for chart-toppers like "Baby Doll" and "Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan," will keep the energy high.

Shillong’s own Jessie Lyngdoh will showcase local talent, while a special reunion of The Great Society, featuring Shillong rock legends Lou Majaw and Rudy Wallang, promises to be a nostalgic experience for classic rock fans. Other Indian acts span diverse genres, from reggae band Dewdrops to hip-hop artist Reble and pop performer Wanbhaa, ensuring a variety of music styles for all tastes.

Organized by Rockski Event & Media Group, this year’s festival will feature a collaboration with TRTL Tokyo, making Japan the official country partner.
