The trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Avneet Kaur starrer 'Tiku Weds Sheru' was released on Wednesday. A kissing scene in the trailer has received criticism owing to the age gap between the two actors.

New Delhi: The trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur starrer 'Tiku Weds Sheru' was released on Wednesday. A kissing scene in the trailer has received criticism owing to the age gap between the two actors. While Nawaz is 49, Avneet turned 21 in October last year.

As soon as the trailer was released, netizens started commenting about the age gap between the actors and the lip lock between them in the film. A user commented, “This is just nasty, Avneet was probably 20 when the shooting of this movie started, she is also highly sexualised in the trailer." Another wrote, “Nawaz kissing 28 years younger avneet :-”

It's so disappointing to see Avneet Kaur, who is just 21, paired opposite someone who is 49.

That Avneet Kaur and Nawazuddin scene is horrendous.. Kangana is producer of the movie.. WHY any person in their SANE MIND would allow that film/scene to go forward.. The Age Gap is 28 fu(king years .. Uske Baap ki umar ka hai …,” wrote another user.

“Apni beti ki age ki ladki ke sath Ye sab wo bhi In name of Acting. Plz etna bhi Acting mat karo. Agar Avoid nhi kar sakte to kam se kam Casting to sahi Karo. BTW it's her 1st on screen Kiss. What's a moment. Congrats for film #TikuWedsSheru #AvneetKaur,” a user commented.

The movie is produced by Kangana Ranaut and directed by Sai Kabir and is billed as a tale of two eccentric, starry-eyed characters, who want to make it big in Bollywood.

Kangana, who was present at the trailer launch of the film, shared that the project was previously titled 'Divine Lovers' and She was supposed to do the film with Irrfan Khan initially.

"This is very special. This film was launched before. Initially, Irrfan sahab and I were supposed to do this film. It must be about six-seven years ago. You all came for its launch event and the name of the film then was 'Divine Lovers'," the actor-producer told reporters.

The film will premiere on Prime Video on June 23.
