Vijay Sethupathi In Talks To Play Vibhishan In Ranbir Kapoor Starrer Ramayan: Report
The forthcoming film 'Ramayana' will feature Yash as Ravan, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Ranbir Kapoor as Ram.
New Delhi: The director of the forthcoming film 'Ramayana', Nitesh Tiwari, is looking for a new cast member. According to a Pinkvilla report, the director has approached Vijay Sethupathi about a role after casting Yash as Ravan, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Ranbir Kapoor as Ram. Nitesh and Vijay are reportedly in talks for the latter to play Vibhishana, Ravan's brother, according to Pinkvilla.
“Nitesh recently met Vijay and took him through the script and the world he’s looking to create,” they quoted a source saying.
“Vijay was blown away by the narration and the visuals planned. He has shown interest in the film,” he added.
However, they further claim that he has not yet signed anything because the finances is still being worked out.
According to the publication, Lara Dutta will portray Kaikeyi, and Sunny Deol could play Hanuman. Meanwhile, the role of Kumbhakaran was reportedly rejected by Bobby Deol.
Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari are presumably producing the movie, and Diwali 2025 is its anticipated release date. If reports are to be believed, pre-production on the movie has already started. Though the project and the lead cast have not yet been formally announced, casting for the movie is currently underway.
During an interview with Zoom entertainment, Nitesh Tiwari was asked about taking the daring step to come up with his mythological drama. The filmmaker said, "My question is very simple. I am also a consumer of the content that I create and if I’m not going to offend myself than I’m very confident that I might not end up offending anybody else."
On the work front, Ranbir was recently cast in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's gripping film 'Love and War'. While Yash is filming 'Toxic', his next movie after 'KGF', Sai is shooting 'Thandel' with Naga Chaitanya. Vijay and Katrina Kaif were most recently featured in 'Merry Christmas'. Soon, he will appear alongside Maharaja in the 'Viduthalai' sequel.
