Twinkle Khanna REACTS To Twitter User Who Accused Akshay & Her Of 'Not Doing Enough' During COVID-19 Crisis

Twinkle Khanna responded to a retired IAS officer, who accused her family of 'not doing enough' for the citizens during the COVID-19 crisis in the country.

Mumbai: Bollywood celebs including Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Varun Dhawan have come forward to support India’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by providing oxygen cylinders, concentrators and ventilators to the needy. Many tinsel town celebs have also encouraged their fans to contribute towards COVID relief work. Akshay and his wife Twinkle Khanna are leading by example as they are actively working to provide assistance to the people.

While Akshay donated Rs 1 crore to Gautam Gambhir’s foundation, Twinkle arranged oxygen concentrators for hospitals. Despite their efforts, the couple faced criticism for not ‘donating more’ for the people and asking others to contribute ‘when they are capable’ of giving more donations.

Retired IAS officer Surya Pratap Singh, while responding to Twinkle’s tweet, questioned her and Akshay for ‘not doing enough for the people suffering from the pandemic’. In her post, the ‘Mela’ actress had urged people to donate for oxygen concentrators and support the fight against the deadly virus.

Mr. Singh posted a tweet in Hindi and asked Twinkle and her family to show kindness and contribute more towards COVID-19 relief work.

“Twinkle, your husband is one of the richest artists on India. It would be better if your family showed kindness and donated more instead of seeking donations. It's not the time to ask for help, but it is the time to provide help,” Surya Pratap tweeted.

Twinkle was quick enough to react to Pratap’s tweet. Mrs. Funny Bones said that she and her husband have already donated towards the cause.

“Have donated 100 concentrators toward this cause &in multiple other ways. As I’ve said before, it’s not about me or you but what we can do collectively for those in need. Sad that at this point, instead of pitching in, we expend energy in pulling people down. Stay safe,” Khanna wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Last month, Akshay Kumar had tested positive for COVID-19. The ‘Rustom’ star was hospitalized as a precautionary measure. He returned home after undergoing treatment for few days at the hospital

On the professional front, Akshay will be next seen in 'BellBottom'. Speculations are rife that the spy thriller will get delayed due to COVID-19 crisis.  Khiladi Kumar's 'Sooryvanshi' has been postponed twice due to the rise in number of cases in the country.

The 'Good Newwz' star also has 'Prithviraj', 'Ram Setu', 'Bachchan Panday' and 'AtrangiRe' in his kitty.
