‘I Give My Word To Someone…’: When Sushant Singh Rajput Talked About Losing Out On 12 Films In A Year

Sushant appeared in a number of noteworthy films, but the biopic 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story' helped him achieve prominence.

New Delhi: It has been three years since Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput passed away. The news of his demise came in on June 14, 2023 and shocked the whole Hindi film industry as well as his fans. Sushant Singh Rajput's was found dead in his flat in Bandra. His family members suspected foul play and requested further inquiry.

Sushant appeared in a number of noteworthy films, but the biopic 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story' helped him achieve prominence and accolades for his work. However, because of his commitment to other projects, the actor also passed up on important roles.

In a DNA interview, he recounted missing out on 12 films in only one year. “I was doing many films and they are all releasing now. (Laughs) I don’t want to name them. What happens is, when I give my word to someone, and he’s delaying (not because he wants to, but because of a particular reason) and I get to understand it, I won’t ditch. So be it the biggest film with the biggest studio or the smallest film, I won’t leave another film. So unfortunately, because of the two films that I was doing and that didn’t happen, I lost out on 12 films in the last one year. One film didn’t happen and the other was put off by a few months. And these films are the films that we generally talk about these days. Let’s not get into all that,” Sushant said.

Later on in the same interview, he said,"People think that I walked out of my mentor Abhishek Kapoor’s film Fitoor. But I didn’t. I was told that the film would start in October, so I kept myself free. And Fitoor was the first film in my career that I said yes to, without reading a script. Just because it was Gattu’s film and I love him as a director.  I find him to be very passionate with his work. So I prepped in September. October came, November passed by, but it didn’t start. On December 15, I decided that I would do Paani and maybe, Fitoor. But I didn’t walk out. I sat for so many months.''

According to Koimoi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali confirmed to police officials after Sushant Singh Rajput's passing that the actor had been promised lead roles in his films 'Ram Leela' and 'Bajirao Mastani'.

Krishna Kumar Singh and Usha Singh welcomed Sushant Singh Rajput into the world on January 21, 1986. The actor had four elder sisters. He pursued engineering but dropped out before finishing his degree. Later on, he joined theatre classes and started dancing in the background of live performances. Sushant rose to fame owing to his role in the Ekta Kapoor television series 'Pavitra Rishta'. His acting career took off after he was picked for the 2013 box office hit 'Kai Po Che'. His final film to be released posthumously was 'Dil Bechara' in 2020.
