Sharpshooter Who Attacked Hrithik Roshan's Father Rakesh Roshan Held After Jumping Parole

52-year-old Sunil V Gaikwad, who was allegedly involved in the attack on filmmaker Rakesh Roshan in 2000, was arrested from Thane.

New Delhi: Sunil V Gaikwad, who allegedly attacked Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan's father in 2000, has been arrested by the police in Maharashtra's Thane, a report in PTI said.  The sharpshooter was arrested from Parsik Circle area on Friday (October 9), nearly three months after he jumped parole. The 52-year-old has seven cases of attempt to murder and 11 cases of murder registered against him, the report added. WATCH:  Laxmmi Bomb Trailer OUT! Accordingly, we laid a trap and caught him," senior inspector of Central Crime Unit Anil Honrao was quoted as saying by the news agency. Rakesh Roshan was shot by two Budesh gang members outside his Santa Cruz office on January 21, 2000 in Mumbai.  The assailants reportedly fired six rounds, of which two bullets had hit the 'Kaha Na Pyaar Hain' director. They fled the scene after the filmmaker fell to the ground. Sunil V Gaikwad, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case, came out on a parole in June 26. After completing his parole period, Gaikwad went into hiding. He was arrested after the police received a tip-off about the sharpshooter. The police officials chalked out a proper plan to nab to him. "Gaikwad had been sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case and was lodged at Nashik central jail. However, he came out on a 28-day parole on June 26 this year," the official said. The notorious criminal was associated with gangs of Ali Budesh and Subhash Singh Thakur, he added.
