Priyanka Gandhi Has A New Bag For Parliament — This Time For Bangladesh

The new cream-coloured handbag had a message, 'Stand with minorities of Bangladesh', written on it. Other Congress MPs were also seen holding these bags.

Parliament Winter Session: First-time Congress MP from Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra carried a new bag to Parliament on Tuesday, a day after her 'Palestine' bag was criticised by the BJP. The new cream-coloured handbag had a message, 'Stand with minorities of Bangladesh', written on it. Other Congress MPs were also seen holding these bags and demanding justice for Hindus and Christians facing atrocities in Bangladesh.

This comes a day after she expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine, carrying a handbag with 'Palestine' written on it.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the Zero Hour on Monday, Priyanka Gandhi had sought the government's support for those who are in pain because of the attacks in Bangladesh.

"The first issue I want to discuss is that this government should raise its voice against the atrocities committed against the Hindu and Christian minorities in Bangladesh, it should hold talks with them and take their support. The second issue is that today, a picture has been taken down from the headquarters of the Army in which the Pakistani Army is surrendering in front of the Indian Army," she had said.

On being criticised by the BJP for carrying the 'Palestine' bag, Gandhi asked, "Who's going to decide what clothes I wear now? Who’s going to decide that?"

"That is typical patriarchy that you decide what clothes women wear. I don’t subscribe to that. I will wear what I want," she said.

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya had accused her of indulging in "communal virtue signalling" under the pretext of combating patriarchy. "At the end of this Parliament session, observe a two-minute silence for everyone in the Congress who believed Priyanka Vadra was the solution. Sporting a bag in support of Palestine in Parliament is crass communal posturing. Make no mistake, Congress is the New Muslim League," Malviya posted on X.
