Salim Khan Talks To Arbaaz Khan About Falling In Love With Helen, Calls It An ‘Emotional Accident’
Arbaaz Khan interacts with Salim Khan about his second marriage to actor-dancer Helen.
New Delhi: Arbaaz Khan will talk about the lives of a select Hindi film industry veterans on his upcoming chat show. The actor-producer also interacts with Salim Khan, his father and a screenwriter, about some personal matters in his life, such as his second marriage to actor-dancer Helen.
In 1981, veteran author Salim Khan married Helen. But he was already married to Salma Khan and the father of Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, and Sohail Khan at the time. Salim admitted that falling in love with her was not his intention in a recent talk, calling it an "emotional accident."
Salim explains how his relationship with Helen began in the latest Bollywood Bubble promo for the chat show The Invincibles with Arbaaz Khan. “She was young, I was also young. Mera koi aisa iraada nahi tha. Maine sirf madat ke liye kiya tha. (I didn't intend for it to happen. I was just trying to help her out). She started respecting my gestures and attitude. I always say that love is rooted in respect. You cannot love anybody who you don't respect," he said.
"This is an emotional accident. Kisi ke sath bhi ho sakta hai (It can happen to anybody). Then I managed it.” Salim added.

Arbaaz says that while he may have been upset with his father for this, with time he has come to see that having Helen in the family and in his life was a good thing.
"As we grew older, we saw that we had situations in our life that we could have done the same thing. Wohi cheez jinse mujhe mere baap se naarazgi ho sakti thi, woh meri zindagi mein aa rahi hai, aur time bahut bada factor hota hai, cheezon ko samajne mein (The same thing that I could be angry about with my father, the same is happening in our lives and time is a big factor in understanding them)," he said.
When Arbaaz questioned Salim about his relationship with Salma Khan, he recounted with delight how they would meet in secret and how, when he eventually went to meet her father, everyone in the neighbourhood came to see him.
