More Hurdles For Sadak 2! Pakistani Musician Alleges 'Ishq Kamaal' Song Copied; Composer Suniljeet Responds

Responding to the controversy, 'Ishq Kamaal' music composer Suniljeet, a Chandigarh-based music teacher, said that the song is an original composition and not a copy.

Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt starrer 'Sadak 2' doesn't appear to be a smooth road for the filmmakers as the movie continues to be embroiled in controversies. First it was called out for its 'objectionable poster' which allegedly hurt the sentiments of Hindu community, then it was ruthlessly followed by trolls for allegedly promoting nepotism in Bollywood, and now a Pakistani Musician has claimed that the 'Ishq Kamaal' song from the film was his original from 2011 and has been copied by Indian composers. Just few hours after the trailer of the film was released on August 12, music producer Shezan Saleem, widely famous as JO-G, came forward claiming that the song and the music played in the trailer of the film sounds similar to his 2011 composition. Shezan took to his Twitter account and shared a video pointing out the similarities between the two songs. In his post, he tagged Fox Star Studio and said, "What do we do about this. Copied from a song that I produced in Pakistan and launched in 2011. Let's talk guys." In his shard video, the musician can be herd saying "After listening to it (Ishq Kamaal song), I realised that it sounds like a composition I had produced for a friend around 11 years ago. The friend’s name is Zaid Khan. I think they’ve copied it because not only the melody, but the music is also very similar."

Responding to the controversy, 'Ishq Kamaal' music composer Suniljeet, a Chandigarh-based music teacher, said that the song is an original composition and not a copy. He denied the claims and said, "Ishq Kamaal' is my original composition and doesn't share resemblance to any other song. Everybody involved in making this song including singer Javed Ali, has added his magic to the music. This is my debut as a music director and all I hope for is that people like the song when it comes out. Shalu Vaish and I have worked with all our heart to live up to the expectation of Sadak 2 music." Produced by ‘Vishesh Films’, 'Sadak 2' is a sequel to 1991 film ‘Sadak’ which had Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in the lead roles. The movie will go for a digital release and will start premiering on Disney+Hotstar from August 28.
