Producers Guild Of India Thanks State Governments For Enabling A 'Peaceful' Release Of Shah Rukh Khan Film 'Pathaan'

"The Producers Guild of India is deeply grateful to all the state governments for maintaining law and order, and ensuring the peaceful release of the historic blockbuster Pathaan across India!

New Delhi: 'Pathaan' has been embroiled in controversy ever since it's song 'Besharam Rang' released. The Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone starrer also faced many problems after several political groups  created pressure on the film's release. However, after multiple requests by makers and the ruling party's intervention, the Siddharth Anand directorial was released amid much fanfare and anticipation. So much has been the excitement around the film that late shows were also added and screen count increased.

Now, the Producers Guild of India has released a statement thanking all state governments for a peaceful release of the film which collected Rs. 106 crores on its opening day alone. 

The statement was shared by the Guild on their official social media handle. It said, "Producers Guild of India thanks all state governments for ensuring peaceful release of historic blockbuster Pathaan across India! Tens of thousands of hard-working people make up the Hindi film industry and the larger content producing fraternity for television and streaming services.

"The Producers Guild of India is deeply grateful to all the state governments for maintaining law and order, and ensuring the peaceful release of the historic blockbuster Pathaan across India! Your efforts in safeguarding the sanctity of cinema so that it can entertain India and Indians boosted the confidence of the Indian film industry. The industry existed and grew exponentially for over a century and we are among the few countries where homegrown content still entertains."

" This has been made possible by one thing and one thing alone-the patronage of millions of film lovers across the length and breadth of our great country. Pathaan's success is one of hope, one that makes us believe and that power of love can triumph over everything. We share this moment of victory with you all. Thank you for making this happen. Thank you for being an enabler of history being scripted in India. #SeeYouAtThe Movies." The statement said.

'Pathaan' has collected Rs.106 crores on its opening day, ( weekday) at the box office worldwide. The increased screen count over the weekend and the collections during the weekend will bring more profit for the film at the box office.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, 'Pathaan' has been produced by Yash Raj Films. 'Pathaan' also stars Deepika Padukone, John Abraham and Shah Rukh Khan. It was released on January 25, 2023.
