PM Modi Says Theatres In Srinagar Are Housefull After Years, Shah Rukh Khan Fans Say All Because Of Pathaan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the packed theatres of Srinagar without naming ‘Pathaan’ in his speech in Parliament.

New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan’s 'Pathaan' has broken many records at the box office and is no mood of slowing down. The film, also starring John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, has collected Rs 446 crore in India. Not only this, the film also achieved a special feat – the theatres were housefull in Kashmir after 32 years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mentioned the packed theatres of Srinagar without naming ‘Pathaan’ in his speech in Parliament.

While addressing the changing scenario of Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi said, "Srinagar ke andar barso baad cinema houseful dekhe gaye (After decades, cinemas of Srinagar went houseful)."

Soon after his comment, Shah Rukh Khan’s fans started sharing that portion on Twitter, crediting it to Pathaan and celebrating the success of the film.

SRK Universe posted the video with the caption, "Theatres in #Srinagar are running HOUSEFULL after DECADES" says PM @narendramodi while talking about BLOCKBUSTER #Pathaan”

Netizens were quick to comment. A user wrote, "The theatre have been open for a year and a half now but only pathaan did this. None of the movie could do this, even hit movies like drishyam, rrr etc."

Another user tweeted, "Beta ...SRK ka jalwa hai."

Before the release of the film, PM Modi had also asked BJP workers to refrain from making "unnecessary" comments about films. During the BJP National Executive meeting in New Delhi, PM Modi had said, “No one should make unnecessary comments that would overshadow the hard work we do.”

Shah Rukh Khan was seen on the silver screen in a full-fledged role after four years. Barring cameos in R Madhavan’s “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” (Hindi version) and Ayan Mukerji-directed blockbuster “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva”, the actor’s last full-fledged role before “Pathaan” was “Zero” in 2018.

During the media interaction, King Khan said that the overwhelming love coming his way for the film has made him forget the last four years when he was away from the big screen.

“I thank Aditya (Chopra, producer) and Siddharth… they gave me this opportunity. This is an expensive and time consuming film and to give me a film at a time when I was not working and allow me to be a part of the film, I’m very grateful to them. I have forgotten the last four years in these last four days,” Shah Rukh said had said in a chat organised by Yash Raj Films.
