Nirbhaya Convicts Hanged: 'Justice Is Served'- Sushmita Sen, Taapsee Pannu & Other B'wood Celebs REACT

Sushmita Sen, Taapsee Pannu, Rishi Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh and other tinsel town celebs reacted to the hanging of the convicts in the Nirbhaya case.

New Delhi: The four convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case were hanged to death on Friday (March 20). The four accused -Akshay Thakur, Mukesh Singh, Vinay Sharma and Pawan Gupta were executed under tight security in Tihar Jail at 5:30am. Several Bollywood celebs including Sushmita Sen, Taapsee Pannu and Rishi Kapoor reacted to the hanging of the culprits on social media. Taapsee Pannu, who was last seen in 'Thappad', recalled the seven-year long battle for Nirbhaya's family. She wrote, “It’s done. Finally. I hope the parents can finally sleep slightly better tonight after YEARS. It’s been a long long battle for them. Strongly reacting to the hanging of the four culprits in the Nirbhaya case, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor wrote, "Nirbhaya Justice.  “Jaisi karni waisi bharni” Let this set an example not only in India but world over. Punishment for rape is by death. You have to respect womanhood. Shame on the people who delayed the execution. Jai Hind!"
Director Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted, "Finally justice has been served for #Nirbhaya, I pray for the much needed mental peace for her parents now. Folded hands #JusticeForNirbhaya #nirbhayagetsjustice."
Preity Zinta wished that justice was served faster in the case. "Finally the #Nirbhayacase  comes to an end. I wish it would have been faster but I’m happy it’s over.  Finally she & her parents are in peace. #RIPJyoti #RIPNirbhaya #Justicedelayed #TookTooLong," her tweet read.
"If #Nirbhaya rapists were hung in 2012 the judicial system would have stopped so much crime against women. Fear of the law would have kept the lawless in check. Prevention is always better than cure. It’s time the Indian govt. takes steps for judicial reforms. #RIPNirbhayaFolded hands," Preity further tweeted.
The four convicts, along with two others including Ram Singh and a juvenile, had brutally raped a 23-year-old medical student on a moving bus on the fateful night of December 16, 2012 in Delhi. The victim passed away a few days later after battling for her life at Safdarjung Hospital and later at a Singapore hospital. Stay tuned for more updates!
