National Film Awards 2024: Manoj Bajpayee Bags His Fourth Award, Rishab Shetty And Brahmastra Win Big

President Droupadi Murmu led the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8, 2024, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, honoring the finest contributors to Indian cinema. Rishab Shetty received the Best Actor award for his performance in 'Kantara', while Nithya Menen and Manasi Parekh shared the Best Actress title for their roles in 'Thiruchitrambalam' and 'Kutch Express' respectively. The Best Feature Film award was conferred on 'Aattam', and 'Gulmohar' was recognized as the Best Hindi Film. The ceremony emphasized the rich diversity of Indian cinema, with winners representing various regions and languages.
Brahmastra Part One wins big at National Film Awards
'Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva' had a successful night, with multiple wins, including Best Male Playback Singer for Arijit Singh’s “Kesariya,” and awards for Best VFX Film and Best Film in Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC). Director Ayan Mukerji was seen enthusiastically capturing the event, particularly when Pritam accepted his award. Ayan and producer Karan Johar both appeared proud of their team’s achievements, quelling any rumors of a fallout between them.
On the red carpet, Karan Johar addressed the media, emphasizing that the VFX excellence of 'Brahmastra' was entirely Ayan Mukerji’s vision. “I’m truly honored and humbled to be here,” Johar said, adding, “I can’t take credit for the special VFX... It’s Ayan’s brainchild, and I’m just here to support my team with gratitude.”
The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, along with Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Dimple Kapadia, and Nagarjuna Akkineni, continued to receive praise during the ceremony for its technological brilliance and storytelling.
