My next few announcements will surprise everybody: Tamannaah

Chennai: It has been a phenomenal year so far for actress Tamannaah Bhatia with three back-to-back hits. Thrilled with the response to all her projects, she said the films she has in her kitty will surprise everybody.

"Unfortunately, I can't talk about my upcoming projects yet but I'm sure when announced they will pleasantly surprise everybody. A lot of people, including my fans, will be really happy to know I'm going to be part of these films," Tamannaah told IANS. Out of the three films she did this year, she stunned everybody with her performance in "Dharmadurai" and "Devi". Her other release "Thozha" was a successful venture. Asked how she savored the success, she said: "I've been part of the biggest hits and flops. Over the years, I have realised that it takes a great team for a film to succeed. Although this success does add pressure, it will only push me to choose better content." Tamannaah admits it was a conscious decision to do a film like "Dharmadurai" where she wasn't required to look glamorous or romance the hero. "It was a very conscious decision and it worked. We did 'Dharmadurai' on a very small budget and it was different but I wasn't sure if it will be accepted or not. Thankfully, it was very well received and my performance even earned me an award recently," she said, and added her personality enables her to easily slip into both glamorous as well as author-backed roles. "I'm fortunate enough to pull off glamorous as well as strong, character-driven roles. This is exactly why audiences accepted me in 'Dharmadurai' as well as 'Devi'," she said. In "Devi", Tamannaah played her career's first leading role. She says its success has been overwhelming. Does the success of "Devi" prove audiences are finally open to women-centric films? "No matter what kind of film one makes, it boils down to whether it's good or not. Unlike regular commercial films, most of these women-centric films are made on smaller budget and when they succeed, the profits are bigger," she said. She also firmly believes both kinds of films - commercial, hero-driven and women-centric - will survive and can co-exist. She is currently shooting for Simbu-starrer Tamil film "Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan".
