New Delhi: After launching the intriguing motion poster, the makers of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue’ dropped the teaser of the film.

The film is inspired by a real-life incident at Raniganj Coalfield and by the heroic act of Late Shri Jaswant Singh Gill who led Bharat's coal mine rescue mission. Akshay is set to play mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill. A resident of Amritsar, Gill had received several awards for his act of bravery in 1989. He had volunteered and saved the lives of 64 people from a flooded mine in Raniganj area of West Bengal. Gill died in 2019 at the age of 80.

The teaser opens with miners in a coal mine. The mine is then flooded and workers try to save themselves. Akshay Kumar then enters and starts the rescue operation saying that workers are counting on him for rescue. The teaser also shows Parineeti Chopra.

Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma, Virendra Saxena, Shishir Sharma, Ananth Mahadevan, Jameel Khan, Sudhir Pandey, Bachan Pachera, Mukesh Bhatt, Omkar Das Manikpur also round out the cast of ‘Mission Raniganj’.

Tinu Suresh Desai, who helmed ‘Rustom’ also starring Akshay, has directed the project.

The film, which is slated to release on October 6, was earlier named ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Indian Rescue.' The poster of the film was released on Wednesday with the changed name - ‘Mission Raniganj’ with the tagline 'The Great Bharat Rescue.'

The name change came amid the ongoing India-Bharat naming controversy. The name change controversy erupted after invitations for a G20 dinner in New Delhi sent out by Droupadi Murmu, describing her position as 'President of Bharat' instead of the customary 'President of India', triggered a massive furore on Tuesday. The opposition alleged the Modi government was planning to drop India and stay with just Bharat as the country's name.
